In May 2011 I graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Design. I am currently finishing my Masters of Architecture from NDSU, and plan to graduate May 2012.
Recently I have received two prestigious awards after submitting my design for a pergola into the Designated Sketcher Extrude Competition. I was awarded as a third-place finalist, and also received the highly coveted title 'Most Influential Juror'. You can read more about the website and the competition here: DS Extrude Competition Winners
This summer I have been working with a local concrete company pouring driveways, sidewalks, and retaining walls. I have helped with site grading, interior and exterior demolition, setting forms, light construction, and painting. In May I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity caulking siding and hanging sheetrock. I also spent a few days with a company in Golden Valley learning about cabinetry and assisting build a small section for a new kitchen.
In my free time I enjoy researching and learning new software that I would like to use for my final year of school. Prezi and Adobe Illustrator are two great tools I learned last summer. I am vey excited to use Prezi for presenting and saving my projects in the future. This semester I am learning 3ds Max Design in my design studio. Recently I researched environmental analysis software and I am eager to learn Autodesk's project Vasari.
After exploring the beautiful Wisconsin landscape and exploring the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright, our class has collaborated writing a book that is scheduled to be printed and published soon. We are still looking for a gallery space to display our research and drawings.
Before college, my drawings have been displayed in the first annual student art invitational for my school's district. I have been awarded first and second place at the Minnesota State Fair in the ink category. During my senior year I received the spotlight award from the arts department of my High School. Other random bits of visual work I have done include: web design, tattoo, illustration, and a mural in my residence hall.
